ROH Final Battle 2016: Preview and Predictions
ROH World Tag Team Championship Match
The Young Bucks (c) vs. The Briscoes
The Young Bucks are back with the ROH World Tag Team Championship for the second time. Their tag team matches have become some of the most entertaining ones in wrestling for the past few years. They’ve also honed their craft in NJPW, where they’re also part of the Bullet Club.
The Briscoes have pretty much been with ROH since the promotion opened its doors in 2002. During this time, they have had eight tag titles reigns for a combined 807 days (longest one went for 275 days).
These teams should provide one helluva tag title match at ROH Final Battle, which has the ability to steal the show. Matt and Nick Jackson shouldn’t be relinquishing the title here, though, given how they’re barely over 60 days in their reign. Five of the past seven ROH World Tag Team Champions have had title runs last for 100 days. Since the Jacksons only went for 70 days in their first go-around, maybe this is their chance to extend their reign for at least another few weeks.
Prediction: The Young Bucks defeat the Briscoes to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship.
Four Corner Survivor Match for the ROH World TV Championship
Marty Scurll (c) vs. Will Ospreay vs. Bobby Fish vs. Dragon Lee
The British are coming! The British are coming! That has been the case with ROH over the past month as Marty Scurll and Will Ospreay have joined the promotion on an exclusive deal. They’re two huge acquisitions for ROH, who had relied on NJPW stars after their own got taken away by WWE and TNA (Moose, Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett, AJ Styles, etc.).
Ospreay recently held the ROH World TV Championship, but dropped it to Scurll just two days later. He’ll get an opportunity to regain it at Final Battle. However, the Aeriel Assassin has to also contend with former ROH TV Champion Bobby Fish and Dragon Lee.
It may be too soon here for ROH to make another title change in their TV belt division. Scurll just won the championship and could use a lengthy run to get his feet under him in the United States.
