Universal Title Match: Kevin Owens (c) vs Roman Reigns
A lot of things have surprised me this year in the WWE. The brand split, a Dean Ambrose title run, the rise of James Ellsworth, the list goes on and on. But one thing that blows all that away is the idea that Roman Reigns is once again main eventing a pay per view with a world title on the line.
Beginning at the 2015 Royal Rumble, which Reigns won, Roman has spent that last 23 months being soundly rejected by the WWE Universe. Seemingly deaf or just plain stupid, the WWE Creative team seemed to not take the rejection of Reigns seriously, giving him 3 world title runs and back to back Wrestlemania main events. But after finally dropping the belt to Ambrose at Money In The Bank in June, it seemed like all was right in the World of WWE. But here we go again as Reigns steps into the spotlight once again.
I’m not saying that this is going to be a bad match. Heck, Owens and Reigns usually have great chemistry together inside the ring. But I just can’t see a world where the WWE can possibly make the colossal mistake of making Reigns champion again. This is a hold over main event for Owens who should go on to bigger things in 2017. Owens keeps the belt with some help from Jericho, strengthening their friendship once again.
Winner and Still Champion: Kevin Owens
