WWE: Trish Stratus Sends Message to Bayley After Title Win

Trish Stratus provided a message to Bayley that the new Raw Women’s Champion loved.

Trish Stratus is perhaps one of the faces of female wrestling in WWE, despite being retired for a decade. The other is Lita, who came up in WWE during the same time as Stratus. They combined for 11 Women’s Championship reigns — seven of them being held by the former Canadian star.

In 2017, we’re seeing perhaps the greatest incarnation — or even better — from what had been done by Stratus and Lita in the early 2000’s. This has seen Bayley, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks lead the “Women’s Revolution”, starting in 2015. Since then, others like Alexa Bliss have stepped up and even veterans like Natalya and Nikki Bella have played significant roles.

One of the latest steps in this saw Bayley defeat Charlotte for the Raw Women’s Championship on Monday night. The new champion had spoken to TrishStratus.com in October 2016, saying “Hopefully, we can be the next Trish and Lita”. Stratus linked back to this in a tweet she sent on Tuesday, saying “No, ur not. Ur blazing ur own trail lady! Congrats!”

Bayley would be thrilled with this, responding in the tweet below:

The journey Bayley has had since 2015 is remarkable. From winning the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, to becoming the face of developmental, then debuting at Battleground, showing up on the Raw after SummerSlam, getting a title match at the Alamodome, and now winning the Raw Women’s Championship — it’s been one heck of a ride.

Now Bayley can blaze her trail to WrestleMania 33, potentially walking in with the belt. She’ll at least have to face Charlotte — whether that’s before or at the show. From there, the sky’s the limit for what this woman can do, especially with the support of Trish Stratus and others.
