Report: Jeff and Matt Hardy Could Leave TNA Impact Wrestling This Week
Jeff and Matt Hardy are likely set to leave TNA within the next few days.
Jeff and Matt Hardy have been the subject of speculation over the past few weeks, including the Wrestling Observer saying that WWE does indeed want them. It would be a long-awaited return for the Hardys, but they have to first leave TNA.
Well, this may almost be a guarantee. According to PW Insider, Jeff and Matt Hardy will be leaving TNA within the next two days, unless there’s a “major change”. The Hardys didn’t receive contracts until a few weeks ago and were “late”, not appreciating this and having to sign them quickly.
PW Insider also notes that Matt Hardy likely wouldn’t retain the amount of creative control he had over his “Broken” character under the Jeff Jarrett regime. Hardy had been set to become part of the booking team last year, but then the ownership changes went into play.
The last significant note is that the Hardys are the TNA Tag Team champions. PW Insider says that they are willing to drop the titles at the upcoming TV taping, if needed.
There’s plenty to take in here about the future of Matt and Jeff Hardy, as well as TNA. They are two significant pieces to the Impact Wrestling puzzle, and losing them would take away possibly the show’s most popular characters. This especially goes for Matt, whose “Broken Universe” has become a hit in the wrestling business and a reason to watch the show.
Of course, the speculation will continue that the Hardys are going back to WWE. They could also work other promotions like Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, EVOLVE and more, if they don’t go back to Vince “MeekMahon”.
