When will TNA Slammiversary, one of the company’s usual two PPVs of the year, take place?

Since 2015, TNA Slammiversary and Bound for Glory have been the only live pay-per-views that the company has run. It’s a dropoff from 2012, which had monthly specials run in similar fashion to the WWE. 2013 and 2014 only had them have four shows go live. With the new regime, things could always change, but as of this writing, it seems that there may only be another two again in 2017.

According to Wrestling Inc, this year’s Slammiversary show will take place on July 2 from the Impact Zone in Orlando, FL. it is TNA’s first announced PPV of 2017.

While it’s still four months away, this event will look different than years past. This is with Drew Galloway, Matt and Jeff Hardy, Jade, Mike Bennett, and Maria Kanellis all gone from the company. Five of the six wrestled at the 2016 show, and Kanellis appeared at ringside for one of the matches.

Slammiversary celebrates the anniversary of TNA’s PPV events, which began in June 2002. This show’s name actually began to be used in 2005. It was headlined by AJ Styles vs. Abyss vs. Monty Brown vs. Raven vs. Sean Waltman for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

As recently as TNA Slammiversary 2016, we saw a main event match of Galloway vs. Lashley for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Lashley won by knockout to win the title. Jeff Hardy also defeated Matt Hardy in their long-lasting battle, which took over Impact Wrestling for a few months.
