Alexa Bliss and Mickie James vs. Becky Lynch and Natalya
Result: Alexa Bliss and Mickie James win via pinfall
Rating: 3.25 out of 5 stars
Considering that all four of these women had been arguing inside the ring moments earlier, it’s safe to say that all sense of teamwork was nonexistent here. Following the standard tag match routine, Alexa Bliss and Mickie James were able to take the advantage early on. Towards the closing moments Becky Lynch took control, and it appeared that she had the match won for her team. Then in an unexpected twist, Natalya would go on to hit a powerful German suplex on her tag team partner. Her betrayal would allow Bliss and James to pull off the win.
As the duo celebrated their victory, James ultimately decided this was the perfect time to send a message. Hitting the Mick Kick on the champion, James would drape the title on her fallen partner before exiting the ring. Although this wasn’t an amazing contest by any means, it did what it needed to do and helped build interest ahead of the Women’s Championship match.
Come WrestleMania, it’s difficult to predict who will emerge victorious on the big stage. The result really could go a number of different ways, however Bliss retaining her title is the most logical outcome. She has shined immensely in her heel role on SmackDown Live, and will continue to do so until the time comes for her to resume her feud with Naomi.
Right before the main event, WWE notified fans that due to Baron Corbin’s attack earlier in the night, Dean Ambrose had been taken to a medical facility for assistance.
