WWE 205 Live Results: Highlights, Analysis, and Grades for March 14

On this week’s 205 Live we find out who will challenge Neville at WrestleMania.

On this week’s 205 Live a Fatal 5-Way elimination match will determine who will face the Cruiserweight Champion, Neville at WrestleMania. This isn’t the first Fatal 5-Way has determined a new No. 1 contender. Jack Gallagher won the most recent one to earn the right to face Neville at Fastlane. Tom Phillips is in for Mauro Ranallo this week as the later had travel issues due to the weather.

The show starts with a video package with all 5 competitors in the main event tonight. Neville kicks off the show with a promo. Neville brings up how he is only a year and one day removed from breaking his ankle in this very building. He goes on to say that the winner of tonight’s main event is nothing more than the next person to get fed to the King of the Cruiserweights. He gets interrupted by Mustafa Ali who is on his way to the ring for a match.

Mustafa Ali vs Drew Gulak

Result: Mustafa Ali defeated Drew Gulak via pinfall

Rating: 2.4 out of 5 Stars

Gulak started out with the upper hand using his ground and pound techniques to limit Ali. Like most Gulak matches one mistake cost him and Ali was able to regain momentum. Moments later Ali hit his Inverted 450 Splash to pick up the win. Interesting to see Ali and Neville has an interaction, perhaps a sign of things to come. Gulak gets on the mic and says him losing has nothing to do with him. He says that something has to change and that something is 205 Live.

Noam Dar is backstage talking to Ariya Davari. Dar says that he’s looking forward to their rematch against Rich Swann and Jack Gallagher. Dar tells Davari that tonight is a must win and Davari says he doesn’t need a motivational speech.

Jack Gallagher and Rich Swann vs Noam Dar and Ariya Davari

Result: Noam Dar and Ariya Daivari defeated Jack Gallagher and Rich Swann via pinfall

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Before we get to the match, first thing’s first.

Now, on to the match. Dar and Davari get out to a hot start isolating Jack Gallagher and keeping him from tagging Rich Swann into the match. The heels are able to play keep away for a good amount of time before Swann finally gets the hot tag. Swann is on fire until Dar comes from out of nowhere with his running kick. Dar picks up the win for his team. Afterward, Dar says this victory is in honor of Alicia Fox. The delivery man is back with a giant teddy bear, Dar takes credit for it.

No. 1 Contender’s Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match: Austin Aries vs Akira Akira Tozawa vs Tony Nese vs TJ Perkins vs The Brian Kendrick

Result: Austin Aries last eliminates The Brian Kendrick via pinfall

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Austin Aries and TJP are able to clear the ring before going at it one on one. The two go back and forth for a while before Aries is able to get Perkins outside of the ring. The Brian Kendrick looks to attack from behind but is stopped by Akira Tozawa. Chaos ensues as Tozawa and Aries land suicide dives to the outside. Kendrick tries forming an alliance with Aries but goes on to attack him.

Nese and Perkins go at it until Tozawa comes into the picture. Tozawa hits a snap german suplex on Nese but is broken up by Kendrick. A series of dives to the outside follow. Aries looks to dive to the outside from the top rope but is pushed off by Kendrick. Tony Nese hits the running Nese on Aries through the barricade. Back in the ring, we have Nese and Perkins again. Kendrick tries getting involved but is dealt with. Perkins catches Nese with a cross armbreaker for the elimination.  TJ Perkins eliminates Tony Nese via submission.

Nese attacks Perkins before being sent to the back by an official. Tozawa is distracted by this and is hit with a Sliced Bread #2. Kendrick is able to eliminate Tozawa, though it appears his feet were under the bottom rope.  The Brian Kendrick eliminates Akira Tozawa via pinfall.

It is down to Aries, Perkins and Kendrick. The three have a Royal Rumble-like staredown before Aries and Perkins both punch Kendrick. Aries go at it but Kendrick is back and tries to finish both guys off quickly. Kendrick goes for Sliced Bread #2 but its blocked by Perkins. This leads to an insane Tower of Doom/Sliced Bread #2 spot in the corner. After a weird spot, Kendrick and Aries double pin TJP. Austin Aries and The Brian Kendrick eliminates TJ Perkins via pinfall.

Kendrick tries to end it quickly once again. He lands Sliced Bread #2 for a near fall. Immediately after the kick out he goes for the Captain’s hook. Aries looks to be in trouble but eventually is able to break the hold. Kendrick goes for another Sliced Bread but is countered. Moment later, Aries hits Kendrick with his Rolling Elbow for the win. Austin Aries eliminated The Brian Kendrick via pinfall to win the match.

So there we have it. Aries vs Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 33. Without a doubt the biggest match in this current Cruiserweight division and hopefully these two get enough time to make this as special as it could be. Overall a good episode of 205 Live. 205 Live has put together a good 2-3 months of episodes with a little bit of a step down the last two weeks.
