WWE Rumors: WrestleMania 34 Main Event Planned

WWE already has an idea for the WrestleMania 34 main event, which features two familiar faces.

We already know WrestleMania 34 is set for New Orleans, LA at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in April 2018. Build for that will begin after WrestleMania 33, a show we are still over two weeks away from. Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar or Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton is set to headline the show for either the WWE Universal or WWE Championship, respectively.

Well, there is already information known on the potential main event for WrestleMania 34. The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports the plan is for Lesnar to defend the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns. WWE wants to build up Reigns for a full year and “coronate” him with this win, replacing John Cena as the face of the company, too.

Lesnar vs. Reigns is the rematch from WrestleMania 31, which never had a definitive conclusion after Seth Rollins cashed in Money in the Bank to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. WWE never gave us these two in another bout, so it seems we could get it three years after the fact.

Does this mean the Beast Incarnate is holding the Universal Championship until WrestleMania 34? It’s not crazy to think, as he could beat Goldberg, who has defeated top names within 20-90 seconds. Momentum then gets hitched on Lesnar, which the Big Dog would be built up enough to conquer him and look indestructible in the aftermath of the 2018 Show of Shows.

Of course, this is still a long time away. Plans in WWE always change on the fly, so this may just be the first incarnation of the planned WrestleMania 34 main event.

Take this rumor with a grain of salt. We still have to get through WrestleMania 33, eight months of shows afterward, probably about a dozen pay-per-views, and even the 2018 Royal Rumble match. So by December or January, we should have a better idea of what WWE wants to do in New Orleans.
