WWE 205 Live Results: Highlights, Analysis, and Grades for March 21

On this week’s 205 Live, Neville takes on Mustafa Ali just 12 days away from his WrestleMania Cruiserweight Title Match against Austin Aries.

205 Live was back with another episode on Tuesday night. It would be the second-to-last show before WrestleMania 33, which has its focus on the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. What went down with the build for this?

This week’s show starts with a backstage interview with the WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Neville. Neville discusses his match with Mustafa Ali and how it was disrespectful that Ali interrupted him last week. He says he now has to put these cruiserweights in their place and hopes Austin Aries is paying attention. Aries has a message for Neville later on in the show. No Mauro Ranallo, out sick this week, and we have the old NXT crew in Corey Graves and Tom Phillips.

TJ Perkins vs Tony Nese

Result: Tony Nese defeated TJ Perkins via pinfall.

Rating: 3.2 out of 5 stars

Pretty good match between TJP and The Premier Athlete. However, these two have been feuding for a while but it really wasn’t mentioned on the broadcast. TJP was able to get some offense in but then Nese was able to take over the majority of the match. Perkins is able to gain some momentum following a neckbreaker. A lot of back and forth working to the finish with a nice grappling exchange from TJ Perkins. Perkins would go for his trademarked gutbuster then looked for the Detonation Kick. Nese was able to get out of it and hit the corner german suplex into the exposed turnbuckle. Nese followed up with a Running Nese to pick up the win.

Drew Gulak is interviewed backstage about his comments after his lost on 205 Live last week. Gulak said that 205 Live had a problem following another loss. Gulak would clarify that he was just frustrated and that his words were twisted. He did say that the high flyers causing a dangerous workplace was 205 Live’s problem and that fans cheering only encourage these dangerous acts.

Akira Tozawa vs Jobber

Result: Akira Tozawa defeated the jobber via pinfall.

Ratings 3 (one for each second) out of 5 stars

Good to see Tozawa found his passport. The bell rings and Tozawa hits a Snap German Suplex for the win. Seriously. Tozawa gets on the mic and calls out The Brian Kendrick. The crowd really gets behind Tozawa doing Tozawa’s “AH!” chant. Tozawa gets sick of waiting and says he’s going to come to Kendrick. On his way back up the ramp, Tozawa is attacked by a security guard revealed to be The Brian Kendrick. Lesson #8, looks can be deceiving.

Another backstage love triangle segment revolving around Alicia Fox, Noam Dar and Rich Swann. I’m over these types of feuds on 205 Live however a match is made for next week where Dar will take on Swann.

Austin Aries’ Message to Neville

Aries comes out to say that he will redo his interview with Neville by interviewing himself. He asks himself questions that Neville has asked him in recent weeks then answers. Not too long after this Neville interrupts Aries. Neville tells Aries to get out of the ring so he can teach Mustafa Ali a lesson. Aries remind Neville what happened last time he got in Aries’ face. Aries eventually gets out of the ring and joins Phillips and Graves on commentary and wished Neville luck.

Mustafa Ali vs Neville

Result: Neville defeated Mustafa Ali via submission.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Another good match on tonight’s show between these two. Mustafa Ali continues to prove that he can hang with the big dogs of 205 Live. Ali came close to a win twice. Once off an insane Standing Spanish Fly from the top rope and another of a tilt-a-whirl DDT. Ali goes for the inverted 450 but Neville rolls out of the way before he can perform the move. Neville hits a crazy German Suplex from the top rope then takes Ali outside of the ring to drive him into the ring post. He drags Ali around the ring and in front of Aries before rolling him back in the ring. Neville stares Aries down before locking in The Rings of Saturn to pick up the submission victory.

Aries and Neville another staredown to close the show. The tension between these two is unbelievable and is making their title match one of the most anticipated bouts at WrestleMania.
