Goldberg doesn’t sound too happy with what he’s had to go through during his current WWE run.
When Goldberg returned to WWE in October 2016, he did so after over 13 years away. His last match came at WrestleMania 20, where he defeated Brock Lesnar. These two had a rematch at Survivor Series 2016, which resulted in the same way as the bout in 2004, except in under 90 seconds.
At WrestleMania 33, these two will head back to the ring for another one-on-one match. Before that, Goldberg caught up with E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness and spoke about his current WWE run. From what it sounds like, there’s not too much he’s liking about it right now (h/t Wrestling Inc):
"I’ll be honest, I’m miserable. I’m absolutely miserable."
A blunt response from the man himself. Why isn’t he happy with it, though?

"I am nothing but a machine now. I get up in the morning. I eat. I train. I eat. I go to the bathroom about 20 times intermittently throughout the day because I’m shoving 15 to 20,000 calories in my body and it doesn’t know what’s going on. At 50 years old, it has no idea. It’s the toughest thing I ever embarked upon, guys."
Goldberg went on to explain how he had to “shut down” doing cardio, and now just eats and lifts to train for the ring. He also said that his training was still going in October, when he returned, so it’s why he wore a coat to the ring.
He finished off by saying it’s “much more important” to be his old self in the ring and not having a 20-minute match. If you’re someone who wants to see a longer one-on-one from Goldberg and Lesnar, that alone should keep those hopes in check.
These comments don’t sound convincing if WWE were to offer him an extended run after WrestleMania 33. That means keeping this intense training going at 50-years-old, which may not be easy. Of course, if the money is there, maybe that’s enough to make a deal happen.
