WWE WrestleMania 33 Rumors: Roman Reigns vs. Undertaker to Main Event?

It seemed like either the WWE or Universal Championship match was going to main event WrestleMania 33, but that may not be the case.

At WrestleMania 33, Roman Reigns and The Undertaker will go head-to-head in a star-studded encounter. It’s a battle of the “Big Dogs,” who will look to lay claim to their territory on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

In the days leading up to the show, there has been speculation on Undertaker’s health status. He may need hip replacement surgery, which would potentially end his in-ring career. If he has plans on getting it before WrestleMania 34, then Sunday night could be his last match.

Well, in what will only add to this speculation, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio said on Thursday’s show Reigns vs. Undertaker is the “probable” main event of WrestleMania 33. It would go over Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar and Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton.

If Reigns and ‘Taker are main eventing the show, then it being the latter’s final match almost seems like a foregone conclusion. Of course, plans could change and WWE may want to do one of the top title bouts in the closing spot. If they can give the Dead Man one last moment, though, especially with the fans giving him an ovation to close WrestleMania, then it’s not the worst idea.

Reigns defeating and potentially retiring the Undertaker is going to draw him heat like he’s never seen before from WWE fans. Will that mean the unthinkable is pulled off after the show, by turning him heel? It’s something you would think is being considered, even though the former Shield man is pulling in great merchandise sales.
