NXT Women’s Championship Match
Asuka (c) vs. Ember Moon

Result: Asuka defeats Ember Moon via pinfall to win the NXT Women’s Championship.

Rating: 3.75 out of 5 stars

NXT is now two for two on tite redesigns. The new NXT Women’s Championship has similarities to the men’s, wit hthe big “X” and the removal of pink. See for yourself below:

Moon and Asuka had a very fun encounter for the first few minutes. They mostly looked even and had the crowd buzzing, which is great to see after the epic tag title match that’s so difficult to top.

The first cool spot of the match came when Moon hit a springboard crossbody from the second rope, over the ropes and onto Asuka. A dynamite move that got a great reaction from the NXT Universe.

Toward the back end of the match, Moon started taking control and made the Empress look as vulnerable as she’s ever looked. The missed hip attack started this, and commentary played up her neck being hurt for a reason. This led to an attempt at the Eclipse a short time later, which Asuka stopped when she shoved the official into Moon and knocked her off the rope. This led to the big kick and the win.

This finish to this match was great for two reason — it made Asuka look desperate and saved the Eclipse, which will likely take her out in the future. Part Two should be terrific, and I’m very much looking forward to it.
