Singles Match: AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon
No offense to Shane McMahon, he’s a tough guy and always willing to put his body on the line for the sake of entertainment, but is this really the best way to utilize AJ Styles? The guy has been one of best wrestlers on the planet for the past 15 years and basically carried the Smackdown brand since the brand split in July. So why on earth would the WWE not want to give Styles the forum to show his skills on the biggest show of the year? It’s almost as ridiculous as the current Universal title situation. But I’ll get to that in a second.
This seems like the easiest pick of the night. Styles and McMahon are engaging in just a pure, unadulterated wrestling match. No gimmicks, no weapons. So how in the world will Shane hang with AJ? It’s not going to happen. This is going to be a Styles-like clinic as he’ll be forced to carry his opponent. This is a lot to ask out of AJ, but he’s good enough to pull it off.
So in summation, Styles better win this match. If he doesn’t, someone in the decision-making department of the WWE is using copious amounts of drugs. Plus a McMahon win will immediately lose a Wrestlemania viewer because there is a very real chance that my television will spend the remainder of the evening lying in broken glass outside my living room window. But luckily for me and my television, that most likely won’t happen.
