Shinsuke Nakamura Receives Curtain Call After NXT TakeOver: Orlando (Video)
After his NXT Championship loss to Bobby Roode at TakeOver: Orlando, Shinsuke Nakamura received a warm send-off from the Amway Center crowd.
At NXT TakeOver: Orlando, Shinsuke Nakamura went for his third NXT Championship reign. He became just the second Superstar to win it twice, which came weeks after Samoa Joe made history as the first. However, when Nakamura dropped the belt at TakeOver: San Antonio, it started the speculation of his potential main roster call-up. Past NXT stars like Joe, Finn Balor, American Alpha and Bayley have been subjected to this before.
Well, by losing to Bobby Roode on Saturday night, this only sparked the noise of him arriving at WrestleMania 33 or on one of WWE’s cable TV shows. What happened after TakeOver went off the air, will only further this.
As Nakamura got up from being pinned, he stood a bow for the Amway Center crowd. They clapped and cheered for him as a potential send-off to the main roster. Of course, it’s not guaranteed to be happening, but given his loss (and past history), fans will be watching for this.
That looks like the exit of Nakamura from NXT, right? He sure seemed to act that way, but wouldn’t he do that whether or not he was actually moving up?
If we get the King of Strong Style at WrestleMania, there’s not a great spot for him to show up in. He needs his own spotlight, which the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal wouldn’t give someone like him. Save it for Raw or SmackDown Live, where the crowd can react appropriately to his own segment.
