How did the WWE Championship match between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt turn out at WrestleMania 33?

The WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania 33 between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton, in a nutshell, proves why Smackdown is thriving and RAW is not.  The red brand’s Universal Championship is being defended by Goldberg.  A 50 year old man who, up until last November, had been in a wrestling ring for 13 years.  He’s going to defend that belt against Brock Lesnar who’s been slightly more active in that time frame.  Lesnar in the past 13 years has wrestled in a whopping 33 matches in that span.  These are two legends, yes, but it’s clear that neither one of them want to take a more active role in the company and thus should not be competing on it’s biggest show for one of it’s biggest titles.

Smackdown’s world championship, on the other hand, is being defended by young, potential superstar in Wyatt against a guy, that is indeed a veteran legend, but a full-time one at that.  The duo has put on an engaging, if not somewhat strange at points, feud over the course of the last 6 months and it culminates Sunday in a highly anticipated battle.  Wyatt, incensed over Orton burning up Sister Abigail’s body and Orton aiming at his 13th world title, will undoubtedly let it all hang out at Mania.  All that’s left now is to see what went down.

Out first was “The Eater of Worlds”.

And then The Viper in his 5th world title match at Wrestlemania.

After the in-ring introductions, they get down to business and it’s all Orton early, including a just missed RKO.  Wyatt fired back with a running headbutt.  Wyatt then performed his signature head tilt and the ring lit up with maggots.

Orton seemed shocked and Wyatt continued to punish him.  He did the upside head thing again and once again the ring looked filled with snakes.  Wyatt continued to dominate and went for Sister Abigail but Orton managed to escape.  Orton landed a dropkick outside but seemed to had injured himself allowing Wyatt to hit Sister Abigail on the guard rail.  Wyatt chased Orton outside and walked into an RKO.

Back inside, Orton looked a boot to the face, Wyatt went for Sister Abigail, but Orton landed a backbreaker then a DDT from the second rope.  Orion looked for another RKO but Bray countered with another Sister Abigail for a 2-count.  Wyatt then went to his bridging upside down walk and the ring appeared to fill with insects but Orton still managed an RKO for the win.  Yawn.
