AJ Styles dream matches have been thrown around since the day he stepped foot in WWE. Shawn Michaels’ name was prominently thrown around, and he even confirmed being asked to face Styles at WrestleMania 33.

Before the HBK talk, there was mention of the Undertaker as Styles’ potential Royal Rumble or WrestleMania opponent, mostly from speculation. The Phenomenal One had said he’d want to face him.

If we had a Styles vs. Undertaker match, it could have been one of the featured bouts of WrestleMania, Royal Rumble or any other major WWE show. With ‘Taker being 52-years-old and in bad shape, as seen in his last match, Styles could have been the guy to work and carry him through a 15-20 performance, something Roman Reigns did, but could have (obviously) been done better by the former NJPW star.

Would Styles be the one to retire the Undertaker? That doesn’t seem like the WWE choice that would be made, so if this came down to having a match at WrestleMania 33, it probably wouldn’t have happened. However, what if it was at the Royal Rumble or a future WrestleMania (health-permitting)?
