WWE NXT: Spoilers for April and May 2017

A look at the spoilers for the upcoming episodes of WWE NXT.

On Wednesday night, the latest WWE NXT taping took place from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. This is the first set of shows filmed since NXT TakeOver: Orlando, which saw the end of Shinsuke Nakamura’s run here (he got called up to SmackDown Live).

This NXT taping started a new era for the brand, as they showcased new faces, had a big name arrival and saw the farewell of another star. It made for what should be a fun slate of episodes for April and May 2017.

NXT has begun taping out of order over the past few events, so there’s no way of telling how these matches and segments will be jumbled together and turned into an episode.

  • Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford defeated Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli in a dark match.
  • Aleister Black squashed Corey Hollis.
  • Tye Dillinger vs. Eric Young in a Steel Cage match is announced for next week.
  • DIY defeated Dylan Miley and Michael Richard Blaze. After the match, Miley attacked Blaze.
  • Ruby Riot defeated Kimber Lee. Nikki Cross came out to watch the match.
  • Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Danny Burch.
  • Drew McIntyre made his NXT debut and defeated Oney Lorcan. McIntyre cut a promo on how he wants to be in NXT and wants to win the NXT Championship.
  • Shinsuke Nakamura cuts a promo and talks about his time in NXT. The entire roster is on stage for this, including Finn Balor making a special appearance. Balor, Hideo Itami and Triple H all hug Nakamura.
  • The Authors of Pain defeated Kassius Ohno and Roderick Strong. A unique pairing, to say the least.
  • Jeet Rama defeated John Skyler. Rama was one of WWE’s signings from India a while back.
  • Bobby Roode cuts a promo on his NXT TakeOver win and mocks Nakamura leaving the brand. This leads to Itami coming out to slap Roode and hit him with the GTS.
  • Tyler Bate defeated Jack Gallagher to retain the WWE UK Championship.
  • Aliyah and Liv Morgan defeated Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.
  • Cross and Riot brawl in the ring.
  • McIntyre defeated Almas.
  • Black defeated Kona Reeves.
  • Riot comes out for a match, but is attacked from behind by Cross.
  • Dillinger defeated Young in a Steel Cage match with help from Ohno and Strong.

An interesting set of WWE NXT matches here, some of which could set up what we’re seeing at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. Roode vs. Itami for the NXT Championship feels like the potential main event, a potential moment being given to the former KENTA that he hasn’t had since debuting in 2014. Injuries have gotten in his way, but it seems NXT is willing to give him a chance. Let’s hope he can stay healthy.

McIntyre probably has a good chance of making the TakeOver card. Who he faces there didn’t seem to be teased, but things should change by the next taping.

No Asuka or Ember Moon at this show, which is surprising. The floor was given to Riot and Cross on Wednesday night, so maybe we’re getting a month off from the NXT Women’s Championship feud?
