Highlights of the Division

Randy Orton was favoured to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33 and he did not disappoint. A lot of people including myself were disappointed in the result but from a storyline perspective it made total sense why he beat Bray Wyatt. Bray manipulated him for months and now Randy is dishing his own version of payback. Most likely Orton will play the same role Bray did as a transitional champion as their story develops.

Bray Wyatt might have lost the title and stayed winless for a third WrestleMania in a row but he has a perfect opportunity to reclaim back his gold. This House of Horrors match for the WWE Championship might be presented in the perfect way for Bray Wyatt to win his second WWE Title and conclude his rivalry with Orton. He must walk out as champion to maintain his main event status on Smackdown Live.

AJ Styles had a phenomenal match against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania and informed the commissioner on Smackdown Live that he ain’t going anywhere. AJ should remain on Smackdown Live and continue his onward path to the WWE Championship. He’s still owed a rematch for the gold so we’ll see if he’s granted that match.

Shinsuke Nakamura finally graced Smackdown Live with his awe-inspiring entrance and should be considered a main event talent for this brand. He might potentially feud with the Miz but that shouldn’t demote his world title status in the short-term. With John Cena taking a hiatus, Nakamura could step up to the plate as Smackdown Live’s most popular babyface.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.

  • No.1 Contender: Bray Wyatt (4 Wins – 4 Losses)
