Highlights of the Division

In a surprising move, we had a No. 1 Contenders match for the Raw Women’s Championship that included the newest members of the roster—Mickie James and Alexia Bliss. They battled against Nia Jax and Sasha Banks in a fatal four-way match which was as entertaining as advertised. I’ll have to give the WWE production crew huge props for the video packages introducing each competitor before the match was held. It gave the match a big fight feel and it looks like it benefited the new number 1 contender for the title—Alexia Bliss.

I wrote last week that Nia Jax should be in prime position to challenge Bayley for the title after dismantling Charlotte and shipping her to Smackdown Live. The fact that Alexia Bliss got the nod instead of Jax is very disappointing to see. Nia has been terrorizing the division for months and has no championship to show for it while the women she’s defeated have already captured gold. What will it take for the Samoan competitor to get the respect and trust she’s due to the WWE brass? 

What’s next for Sasha Banks after getting pinned by Alexia Bliss and losing the opportunity to challenge for the title once again? I just hope she doesn’t prance around with Bayley and act like it isn’t a big deal. She’ll need to regroup and get some wins in the meantime.

Mickie James had a good showing in her first match back on Raw but she’ll be stuck in the pretenders section of the division for the time being. She is due to have one more crack at Alexia Bliss so we’ll see if she gets that match-up.

Not sure what’s developing between Alicia Fox, Dana Brooke and Emma but if it leads to a match between these women, I’m down for that. More competition will make the division that much more stronger than it’s Smackdown Live counterpart.
