1. Braun Strowman

There hasn’t been a single WWE superstar whose stock has risen higher and more quickly than Braun Strowman. He has gone from being another generic musclehead to a genuinely good wrestler (who can do kip-ups, for crying out loud) with acceptable promo skills and a solid gimmick. Despite being a clear-cut heel, many people have started to cheer him because of just how destructive he has become.

He has, in a sense, become the next Brock Lesnar. So, if WWE’s entire plan is to get Roman Reigns back into the top spot, why would they delay everything so that it agrees with Lesnar’s contract and simply put the Universal Championship on the most feared man on the roster?

Strowman as Universal Champion would work so easily. He’s already being pushed in a major way and is being featured prominently on every show. If he wore the Universal Championship in all of his attacks or mentioned it as being important to him, that would elevate its prestige. Many people also enjoy watching him, so that would help in elevating ant Universal Championship matches as well.

Finally, WWE have turned Strowman into the perfect monster, one that destroys anyone and everyone that gets in his way. If he’s meant to be the ultimate beast for Reigns to slay, that eventual victory would have much more weight to it if Strowman were Universal Champion.

Braun Strowman may not have the wrestling background that Brock Lesnar does, but more people are talking about Strowman at the moment than they are Lesnar. Strowman’s stock is rising, while Lesnar’s has effectively plateaued.

If you want to make a star out of someone like Strowman, you put the most important prize on the show on him. If you want to placate someone that only draws in people on a handful of occasions per year, then you put it on Lesnar.

At this point, it’s really a question of priorities for WWE.
