Another Regal Announcement

Regal is with Asuka in his office. He announces a battle royal to determine the No. 1 Contender to the NXT Women’s Championship.

Alright, let the fun begin with this one. Ember Moon will be the favorite here, unless there’s a surprise or two on the way.

WWE United Kingdom Championship Match
Tyler Bate (c) vs. Jack Gallagher

Result: Tyler Bate defeated Jack Gallagher via pinfall to retain the WWE United Kingdom Championship.

Rating: 3.25 out of 5 stars

Hey, Gallagher was back at Full Sail! He got over well in the Cruiserweight Classic, and returned for his first title match since the WWE Cruiserweight Championship bout at Fastlane.

This was another showcase for Bate, who will eventually lead the weekly United Kingdom Championship show, whenever that may happen. His title can’t just be forgotten about, either, so appearances like this will do, even if Gallagher (or anyone else who faces him in NXT) won’t beat him. The eventual changing of the guard will take place whenever this match goes down.

It’s hard to believe Bate is only 20-years-old (he won the title at 19). There’s still work to be done, but the kid can go in the ring with the best of them. He has a unique style which has connected with the fans since January’s tournament.

Gallagher and Bate had some terrific chemistry here, with their holds flowing well and everything else looking sound. The Gentleman used some of his usual, wacky-but-cool stretches of the arm, which got some reactions from the crowd. He even showed some extra aggression near the end of the match, which had Bate reeling and pulling the Tyler Driver 97 out of nowhere.

After the match, we had Pete Dunne, Mark Andrews, Wolfgang and Trent Seven shown at ringside. It gets their faces on screen for, again, whenever this UK show comes about.

That will do it for this episode of WWE NXT. It’s a building block toward TakeOver: Chicago, which has yet to have its match card begin to be developed.
