WWE United States Championship Match
Kevin Owens (c) vs. Sami Zayn

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn is the feud that will never die. It’s gone on since their days in Ring of Honor, continuing in NXT and heading to the main roster. They last had a one-on-one PPV match at Battleground 2016, but for those who have followed their journies, this wasn’t the end.

Ironically (or maybe not), Owens and Zayn were moved from Raw to SmackDown Live during the Superstar Shakeup. They briefly interacted in one segment, but have been kept apart since. This is due to Owens’ future United States Championship match with AJ Styles, and Zayn’s impending feud with Baron Corbin.

We saw Owens lose the U.S. Title at Payback. However, it doesn’t seem like Chris Jericho is long for the belt, especially with his upcoming Fozzy tour. Maybe we’re in for a quick reign from Y2J, which could have just been to get him on SmackDown Live.

The Owens vs. Zayn feud hasn’t had a title on the line since their NXT days. By giving them the U.S. Title at SummerSlam, it gives them their most important main roster match by far. The fans will love it, and they can put on a spectacle that we may call a Match of the Year candidate.
