Dolph Ziggler vs. Sin Cara

Result: Dolph Ziggler wins via pinfall

Rating: 3.25 out of 5 stars

A relatively short match, this exchange served as a way to give Dolph Ziggler some momentum heading into Backlash. At this point in time, he’s the prime candidate to face Shinsuke Nakamura at the event. Meanwhile, Sin Cara continues to flounder in a similar fashion as Kalisto earlier this year. Considering he’s an extremely athletic performer, he should be used better than this. One superkick was the only big move it took to end his night, furthering his descent on the card.

In order for the Showoff to be viewed as a viable threat to Nakamura, he needs to relieve some bigger wins in the interim. Otherwise, fans are going to be able to see through what is already shaping up to be a glorified jobbing. Both Nakamura and Ziggler deserve a chance to produce better and keep fans engaged in the process.

Two more teasers aired tonight which featured the upcoming arrivals of Lana and The New Day. Both additions will be sure to add some much-needed depth to the SmackDown Live roster. Unfortunately, no update was made on Rusev’s request to have a title match at Money in the Bank. I’m sure that’s just WWE saving the announcement for a later time.

Moments before the main event, Noam Dar is backstage to promote his appearance on 205Live later tonight. Also, BreezeDango were present in the back to hype their upcoming title match against The Usos in a skit which referred to their fashion police gimmick.
