Ember Moon suffered a shoulder injury on the most recent episode of WWE NXT, which will cause her to miss the upcoming TakeOver event.

To close the latest episode of WWE NXT, Ember Moon, Nikki Cross and Ruby Riot were announced as the challengers to Asuka’s NXT Women’s Championship for NXT TakeOver: Chicago. This came after the Empress of Tomorrow interfered in a No. 1 Contenders Battle Royal, attacking the remaining three competitors.

During this, Asuka launched Moon through the ropes, sending her crashing to the ground. Cameras showed the former Athena clutching her left shoulder, with officials tending to her at ringside. It could have been a way of selling the attack, but apparently was not the case.

On Monday afternoon, WWE announced Moon will not be part of TakeOver: Chicago. She was diagnosed with a grade one shoulder sprain, which doctors say will keep her out for four to five weeks.

Comments from Moon were also included, which can be seen in the video below. She says she’ll be “better than ever” upon return:

The timing is unfortunate for Moon, who was heading into her second title match. She lost to Asuka at TakeOver: Orlando after the Champion used the referee to mess up the Eclipse attempt. This led to a pinfall finish, allowing the title to stay with the Japanese Sensation.

As for the state of the other three women, what’s interesting to note is “More details are expected to be released this Wednesday on NXT,” which comes from the injury article. At first glance, it would be a Triple Threat, but could there be other plans in store? Might a fourth woman be added to keep it a Fatal Four-Way?
