Gentleman Jack Gallagher vs. TJ Perkins

Result: TJ Perkins defeated Gentleman Jack Gallagher via pinfall

Rating: 2.0 out of 5 stars

Earlier today, WWE shared a video on Facebook where Neville told TJP that if he beats Gallagher tonight, he’ll basically earn a shot at the Cruiserweight Championship. However, while Neville was on commentary for this match, he denied “promising” Perkins anything.

I know I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: Gallagher’s head butt spots are terrifying. I almost felt a little nauseated after the one to kick off the match tonight, it was rough. Still really surprised that a company in the midst of a major concussion lawsuit would allow a guy to appear to concuss himself on a weekly basis.

Once the head butt was done, the rest of the match was the typical Cruiserweight Raw match – a Raw match with smaller guys. No real high-risk moves, no flying, just normal wrestling with guys who weigh less than the rest of the roster (except Finn Balor).

Despite being in Gallagher’s homeland, TJP winning is the right call at the moment. Getting fresh blood into the championship picture is essential for the Cruiserweight Division right now, and Perkins has been on the outside looking in for a while now.

Aries making the save – with a knee brace on – got a nice reaction out of the crowd after their countryman took the L. I feel like a triple threat match with Aries, TJP, and Neville should be the direction WWE goes in, but Gallagher may get added and make it a fatal four way.
