There has been a lot of speculating about Adam Cole heading to WWE, so who would be an ideal opponent for the only three-time ROH World Heavyweight Champion?

At ROH War of the Worlds 2017, Adam Cole went one-on-one with NJPW legend Hiroshi Tanahashi in what was billed as a “dream match.” The match definitely did not disappoint and following the contest, the former ROH World Heavyweight Champion was showered with “Thank You Adam!” chants by the New York City crowd.

For months there has been speculation that Cole would be WWE bound once his ROH contract expired. Rumor had his contract expiring around War of the Worlds. So when the heel known as the Panama City Playboy was standing in the ring, soaking in the moment, many felt like he was indeed saying goodbye to Ring of Honor.

However, this moment between Cole and the fans in the Hammerstein Ballroom was very short-lived. The Young Bucks slid in the ring behind Cole and teased superkicking him. Though they did not, they smiled, threw up the Too Sweet and had a Bullet Club Curtain Call in the middle of the ring; and then the lights went out.

Kenny Omega appeared on the screen, like a boss, to address  Cole before unceremoniously firing him from Bullet Club. The lights go up, the Villain Marty Scurll appeared in the ring complete with Bullet Club umbrella and t-shirt, as the Young Bucks superkicked Cole, not only out of Bullet Club but possibly out of Ring of Honor.

To put this in context, this is similar to how Prince Devitt (Finn Balor) and AJ Styles left Bullet Club and NJPW before heading to WWE. So there is a precedent. If Cole (BAY-BAY!) is done with ROH and the indie scene, he is possibly headed to WWE, most likely NXT.

Cole might receive a name change similar to Tommy End (Aleister Black) or fellow ex-communicated Club member Devitt. Regardless of what they call him (they could keep “Adam Cole”), he will be the one and only Panama City Playboy and returning home to Florida to compete in NXT would setup a lot of interesting and entertaining matches.

Let’s look at five possible opponents for Cole.
