Jeff Hardy (w/ Matt Hardy) vs. Sheamus (w/ Cesaro)

Result: Jeff Hardy defeated Sheamus via pinfall

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Here’s a dumb question: why are we making a big deal about the Hardys discovering who they’ll face for the titles at Extreme Rules? I understand last week’s show was in London, but I’m pretty sure the whole point of last week’s Tag Team Turmoil match was that the winners were number one contenders. Cesaro and Sheamus won. Where was the big mystery?

Anyway, Jeff starts things off aggressively here, but it doesn’t really work out too well for him. At least he still has all his teeth after this one. That high knee late in the match could have knocked some dental work around, but it looks like he made it with his choppers intact.

There was really no reason for Cesaro and Matt to get involved in this one. Sheamus and Jeff were putting on a pretty decent match – nothing spectacular, but serviceable. But Cesaro popped up on the apron to put Matt in position to eat a Brogue Kick – but a sloppy sequence necessitated two kicks. It looked dumb, but if the sloppiest part of a match is dealing with interference, I’ll allow it.

Jeff’s stunner counter was more likely than not an attempt at the Twist of Fate, but both Sheamus and Cesaro have been selling that like a stunner since WrestleMania. The actual Twist of Fate after the interference fiasco looked brutal because Sheamus landed face first on Jeff’s armpit.

Here’s to next week, when we’re guaranteed Matt vs. Cesaro! How long until Extreme Rules again?
