In the first developmental live special since NXT TakeOver: Orlando, WWE NXT looks to put the finishing touches on some feuds while moving forward with others at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. Surely when the night is over we will see the groundwork laid for the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III event this summer.
NXT TakeOver: Chicago will take place from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL. This will be the first NXT TakeOver special, not associated with the Big 4, to be held outside of Full Sail University. The WWE United Kingdom Championship will be on the line alongside all three of NXT’s Championships.
In the probable main event, Bobby Roode will defend the NXT Championship against Hideo Itami. Itami defeated Roderick Strong with the Go to Sleep in a Number One Contender’s match. No one know what the fan reaction will be if Itami is able to land the Go to Sleep but it’s certain to be a loud one.
The NXT Women’s Championship will be defended in a Triple Threat Match. Undefeated Champion, Asuka will look to continue her title reign when she faces off against Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross. Ember Moon was originally scheduled to be in this match but was forced out due to injury.
The NXT Tag Team Championships will be on the line when The Authors of Pain take on former champions #DIY in a Ladder Match. This will be a rematch from their first match at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio.
The WWE United Kingdom Championship will be defended at TakeOver for the first time when the inaugural champions Tyler Bate takes on Pete Dunne. This will be a rematch from the United Kingdom Championship Tournament Final when Bate became the first UK Champion. Also, Roderick Strong will be in action against the leader of SAnitY, Eric Young.
