Best: A Jinderella Story

(special credit to Blaster McMassive/The GateKeeper for this section’s title)

This is the greatest moment in WWE history.

I’m not exaggerating in the slightest, either. This is absolutely huge for WWE on a number of levels. First and foremost, this proves one of WWE’s old slogans as 100% true – Anything can happen. Tom Phillips said, “Before he became number one contender, did anyone think Jinder Mahal would become WWE Champion?” And here we are, with The Maharajah holding WWE’s top prize.

Second, and maybe something people weren’t really thinking of, it adds some diversity to the list of WWE Champions throughout history. There aren’t too many POCs who have won this prestigious championship – Pedro Morales, Iron Sheik, The Rock, Yokozuna, Roman Reigns, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio, and now Jinder Mahal. That’s less than a one out of five ratio.

Third, it’s just really fun watching the fallout from the match result. People are going nuts either in favor of or against the decision to make Mahal champion. Personally, I think it’s great. Guys like Sami Zayn and Tye Dillinger popped on Talking Smack to talk about how they feel that they have a legit shot at the WWE Championship now – and not by putting Mahal down. It’s just the fact that someone who few believed would ever even sniff a championship match now runs the place as champ.

And the way Randy Orton tossed the Singh Brothers around so carelessly and recklessly, he deserved to lose the title.
