3. The Authors of Pain vs. DIY vs. The Revival – NXT TakeOver: Orlando

For the second time, a match involving The Authors of Pain and DIY appears on WWE’s best of 2017. However, this one includes The Revival and is their Triple Threat Elimination Match for the NXT Tag Team Championship at NXT TakeOver: Orlando.

After The Authors of Pain won the titles at TakeOver: San Antonio, Gargano and Ciampa got their rematch, but had it ended by The Revival, who still felt they belonged in the mix. This led to these three teams feuding for the next few months, leading to TakeOver: Orlando and the show-stealing performance they put on.

As seen at WrestleMania 33, in the Raw Women’s Championship Match, elimination matches can get clunky and poorly paced. This led to a disappointing performance and one of the most forgettable performances at the show. This wasn’t the case the night before, though, with the dramatics and pace seen at TakeOver.

At that point, it was Akam and Rezar’s best match to date. They looked like forces, eliminating both tag teams to stand tall. DIY leaving came first, which came as somewhat of a surprise, with them being the bigger focus of this rivalry than Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.

We were left with The Revival and AoP, which became a last stand for the former, given they debuted on Raw two nights later. They worked and battled for their third NXT Tag Team Championship reign, but were put down by the Super Collider, a finisher that hasn’t been kicked out of yet.
