Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns

Result: Roman Reigns defeated Seth Rollins via pinfall

Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars

So, I guess we’re still ignoring the fact that Rollins and Reigns are former Tag Team Champions together? Like I said last week, I know I tune out commentary sometimes, but I swear I haven’t heard anyone bring this up. If anyone has heard it, please tell me so I don’t give myself an aneurysm over this.

Anyway, the story behind this one is fairly straightforward, even discounting the upcoming fatal five way match. Rollins is cocky, and claims that he “owns” Reigns. Roman, though, says no one owns him, and he doesn’t care if you’re a friend or foe.

Seeing Reigns without the bandages on anymore worries me – I feel like he’ll pull the whole “Super Roman” thing more frequently now. But tonight it wasn’t so bad – Seth didn’t do too much early on to wear Roman down, so there wasn’t a lot of non-selling to happen.

Towards the end of the match, things got really good. Early on was a bit slow, believe it or not, but the ending definitely made up for it. There was really no fatal mistake from either guy, but rather the match ended after a great sequence where Reigns was just able to outlast Rollins. The buckle bomb into a Superman punch was such a great spot, and commentary really put it over as such, too. Cole, Graves, and even Booker were on point during this match.

With Reigns picking up the victory (plus his victories since returning from “injuries”), he’d have to be one of the favorites heading into Extreme Rules. So it’s likely he won’t be winning on Sunday.
