WWE Rumors: ROH’s Dalton Castle Receiving Strong Interest

Dalton Castle leaving Ring of Honor for the WWE reportedly seems like a strong bet to happen.

WWE has plucked wrestlers from Ring of Honor for years. There’s a laundry list of them that have come over to the sports-entertainment landscape, including Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins and Cesaro. With NXT growing, it only seems likely this will continue in the months and years to come.

Well, WWE may be going after yet another ROH talent. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dalton Castle is the company’s next target. They have enough interest in Castle to where ROH will need to make a significant offer to keep. His contract will expire this month.

Castle is one of ROH’s most popular and unique performers. He’s known for his flamboyant personality and the Boys, who are independent wrestlers that accompany him to the ring.

Castle has risen up the ROH ladder over the past two years. He’s gone from undercard act to competing for the ROH World Championship, recently attempting to win it from Christopher Daniels at April’s Supercard of Honor.

With the NXT call-ups being fast and furious since the 2016 WWE Draft, Castle can easily work into developmental. At any point, non-titleholders like Aleister Black, Roderick Strong, Drew McIntyre and Andrade “Cien” Almas can be moved up if WWE feels a need for depth on Raw or SmackDown Live, so having insurance is always necessary. Given how popular Castle has become, though, he may far exceed being labeled as an insurance policy for NXT.

With Castle’s contract expiring soon, we’ll potentially learn sooner than later about his status. ROH would be hurt by losing someone like him, while WWE would just be adding to its continuously growing group of Superstars. Where will he end up by July?
