Result: Neville defeats Austin Aries via submission to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

A “last chancery” opportunity for Austin Aries here, who lost his previous two WWE Cruiserweight Championship matches. It’s a specialty match for him, though, with his use of said Last Chancery move.

The focus of Neville’s was on Aries’ left shoulder, with the Rings of Saturn submission placed onto it. However, the crowd booed when Aries got his foot to the ropes. It could have been due to something else, but the audience didn’t seem invested in this match.

The match went in the former TNA star’s direction for a while, applying multiple submissions on the champion. The only one that worked came at ringside, with Aries getting Neville to tap out. Unfortunately, for him, that did not count.

Neville hit a Red Arrow on Aries’ back and got him to tap out to Rings of Saturn, which got commentary and the audience excited. This let the King of the Cruiserweights retain the only belt that’s changed just one time in 2017.

Rich Swann could be next in line to Neville. He won his tag match with Sasha Banks at Extreme Rules and has momentum.

What will Aries do next? Well, he’s had three opportunities. That would push him out of the mix, right? Maybe a heel turn would satisfy this, since he wore out his opportunities. Although, it would quickly diminish the top of the Cruiserweight babyface field.
