WWE SummerSlam 2017: Match Card Predictions After Extreme Rules
With WWE Extreme Rules in the books, how could the SummerSlam match card look?
On Sunday night, WWE Extreme Rules came and went. It featured a new No. 1 contender being established for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship, as well as multiple title changes. This set things up for not only Great Balls of Fire, but WWE’s second-biggest show of the year: SummerSlam.
The SummerSlam match card won’t be developed for at least another four to six weeks. However, that won’t stop WWE from beginning the build of the show, with multiple pay-per-views still to go, too.
So how could the matches for this interbrand show look in August? Let’s go over 12 potential ones:

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
The New Day (c) vs. The Usos
The New Day are officially on SmackDown Live. Like Charlotte Flair’s debut, they got a title shot just about off the bat, which will take place at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods will be The Uso’s biggest challenge since winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in March. They’ve gone through American Alpha and Breezango, but no one as popular or with as much built-up prestige as The New Day. This is a team that’s just six months removed from clinching the longest WWE Tag Team Championship reign ever, along with showing no sign of breaking up, something WWE rarely does with its tag teams.
At some point, whether it’s Money in the Bank or Battleground, it would seem likely that WWE gives New Day the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. They showed the ability to carry the tag team division for over one year, and with the Blue Brand needing an injection of life into a show that has, on occasion, struggled.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see this feud last until SummerSlam, potentially as a third bout between the two teams. This may be New Day’s win, while they head into the fall with titles.
