4. Kane
Kane was not necessarily a poor Mr. Money in the Bank. In fact, he holds the record for the quickest cash in when he defeated Rey Mysterio in that same night for the World Heavyweight Championship.
This World Heavyweight Championship reign that came to be from the Money in the Bank match was actually successful, as well. He saw interesting feuds with top guys like Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker, and Edge before losing the title to Edge.
The problem is that Kane was already involved in a storyline that consisted of both Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker, and he did not need the Money in the Bank briefcase to get into the world title conversation.
On the other hand, the majority of the other contestants did need that briefcase to get out of midcard purgatory. Guys like Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, and Kofi Kingston who have never held a world championship could have used that huge boost because they all had the talent to be successful as main eventers.
Also, guys like Matt Hardy and Christian who had been underutilized and underrated in their careers thus far could have finally had a chance to shine in the spotlight with the briefcase. Any of these guys could have greatly benefited from winning the Money in the Bank briefcase and could have capitalized once given the opportunity.
Instead, the briefcase was handed to a Superstar that had already established himself as a top guy. That guy was none other than Kane.
His run with the briefcase only lasted less than an hour, and he was not the worst winner, but there were certainly better options.
