5 Options for Roman Reigns’ WWE SummerSlam Announcement
With Roman Reigns set to make a “big” SummerSlam announcement, what direction might it go in?
On Monday’s episode of Raw, WWE announced what Roman Reigns will do next — sort of. They said he’ll have an “announcement” for next week’s show, that will tie to SummerSlam. But, this didn’t tease what it could be. However, it’s big enough for WWE to promote one week in advance.
Reigns has stayed quiet since Extreme Rules, where he lost the fatal five-way match to determine Brock Lesnar’s first Universal Championship opponent. So whatever he does next will potentially be significant, especially for WWE’s second-biggest event of 2017.
There are options for Reigns’ SummerSlam plans. What could they include?

5. Goldberg?
Goldberg returned to the WWE in October 2016, to set up a match with Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. This turned into a six-month program, culminating with a Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 33. Lesnar won, defeating Goldberg for the first time, and is now the reigning champion.
On the Raw after WrestleMania, the former WCW star cut a promo that left the door open for a return. He never said when it would happen, but seemed willing to come back if WWE called him. What if they reached out to him to face one of the company’s top stars?
Roman Reigns and Goldberg interacted on Raw during WrestleMania season. They had a standoff, but helped each other spear Braun Strowman.
Was that a way of WWE teasing a potential match? They’ve done this with Superstars before, testing the waters for fan reaction. That could have been what was done there.
While this match would be a great marketing tool for SummerSlam, it’s difficult to predict when WWE will bring Goldberg back. The rumor mill on him has been quiet since WrestleMania, so either talks are quiet or just not happening. Waiting for the next Show of Shows may be more worth it, anyway, since it’s a time where the ratings could use the boost.
