3. Challenge for the Intercontinental Championship

The Miz and Dean Ambrose have flooded the WWE Intercontinental Championship scene for most of 2017. Whether it’s one challenging for the belt or the other holding it, these two have surrounded its picture.

By SummerSlam, this should change, especially with Ambrose potentially set for his rematch at Great Balls of Fire. Whoever wins this bout, though, may be in the for the wrath of Roman Reigns.

In Reigns WWE career, he’s racked up the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, United States Championship and Tag Team Championship. Could his next declaration be for the Intercontinental Title, one of the few belts that have alluded him?

This situation looks similar to SummerSlam 2016, except it’s not Reigns coming off a violation of WWE’s Wellness Policy. He would be filling out a potentially deep match card and be set for one of the few title changes of the show, if WWE wants to push the career-accolade narrative.

Would WWE put Reigns into the midcard scene, though? He could be better used for a marquee opponent to create a big-fight-feel matchup. It would give the show more appear rather than him challenging for the Intercontinental Championship, even with The Miz’s surging popularity as a heel.

WWE should put Reigns into the World title scene, or at least give him a big-name opponent for SummerSlam. How could this happen?
