16. John Cena

If it came as no surprise to anyone that number 17 on this list was a Superstar that ended up being released by the company, it should be a huge surprise that one of the most successful and well-known WWE Superstars of all time is number 16.

That’s right. The 16-time champion has the second worst cash in of all time. While he did not technically lose his match, he did fail to capture the title when he cashed in.

Cena, being the good guy that always does the right thing, decided to give his opponent, CM Punk a fair warning of when he would be cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase, and that was at the 1000th episode of RAW.

The 1000th episode of RAW needed special PPV quality matches to make it seem special, and that is what we got with Punk and Cena. However, it ended in typical RAW fashion.

While the ref was knocked out of the ring, Big Show came in to deliver a KO Punk to Cena. When that was not enough to put Cena down for the three count, Big Show interfered again and attacked Cena within the sight of the ref.

So, Cena ended up winning by disqualification, but no title changed hands, and no Superstar’s career was helped or hurt in any way, and it just really seemed like a waste of the Money in the Bank briefcase.
