WWE SmackDown Live Results: Highlights, Analysis, and Grades for June 13
By Grant Mannis
Naomi vs Tamina Snuka
Result: Naomi wins via pinfall
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Before the next match, a segment was shown backstage featuring AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, and Shinsuke Nakamura. Offering a bit of strategy for their match later tonight, Zayn left the scene moments later. Humorously, Nakamura told Styles that he liked Zayn to end the skit.
Following this, Mojo Rawley was interviewed backstage about his loss last week. Although he was disappointed by the setback, Mojo promised that greater things were on the horizon. Then Zack Ryder appeared out of the blue, making his return to SmackDown Live in the process. Clearly excited to be reunited, it seems that the two are set to be a fixture in the tag division once again.
Focusing now on the second match of the evening, Naomi took on Tamina Snuka. To hype up their match for this Sunday, Lana was also present to observe the Women’s Champion. The match itself didn’t last too long, but it did allow both women to deliver some impressive offensive moves.
Tamina used her power to her advantage early, blocking Naomi’s kicks and establishing control. Her onslaught wouldn’t last long though, as the Women’s Champion delivered a flurry of kicks to insert herself back into the fight. Her opponent would retaliate with a vicious slam, however, all it did was slow Naomi down. One final kicked kept Tamina down, allowing Naomi to achieve victory with the split-legged moonsault shortly thereafter.
Almost immediately after the win, Naomi was attacked from behind by Lana. Finishing off the assault with a modified spinebuster, the Ravishing Russian decided to add insult to injury. Taking the title as her own, Lana held the gold above her head, possibly hinting at her winning this Sunday.
