WWE Rumors: Legends Segment Planned for Money in the Bank

WWE will reportedly have a legends segment at Money in the Bank. Who could appear?

WWE Money in the Bank is set for Sunday, June 18, with multiple marquee matches taking place. One of them will see Jinder Mahal defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton, a rematch of May’s Backlash pay-per-view.

While the match will happen, there may be something added, whether this happens earlier in the night or right before Mahal vs. Orton goes down. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that a legends segment will take place at Money in the Bank, with Baron Von Raschke, Bob Orton Jr., Greg Gagne, Larry Hennig and Ric Flair. No word on what’s planned for these five legends.

Orton Jr. is the father to Randy, so there’s an obvious tie there. The same goes for Ric Flair, who worked with the Viper in the early 2000’s, during their time in the Evolution stable.

Hennig, Gagne and Von Raschke are all legends of the wrestling business. Hennig is the father of the late Curt Hennig and grandfather to Curtis Axel. Gagne is the son of the late Verne Gagne. Von Raschke competed across multiple territories from the 1960’s to the 1980’s.

It will be interesting to see what WWE will do with these legends. A simple scenario could be them siding with Orton in a pre-match promo that can kick off the show or be squeezed between two of the other bouts.

Will any of this impact the match? It’s difficult to think it will, unless a stipulation results from the segment.

Another option is a panel, which WWE did with Flair, Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels in 2014 and 2015. These never found footing and disappeared.
