8. Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston, now a member of The New Day, was once a staple of the midcard. H has held both the United States Championship and Intercontinental Championship in his time as a singles competitor. In fact, Kofi held the Intercontinental Championship three times in the 2010s so far for a total of 227 days.

Kingston’s first reign came when he defeated Drew McIntyre for the championship after McIntyre came back to reclaim his recently vacated championship. Kingston went on to defend his title against McIntyre but eventually lost the Intercontinental Championship to Dolph Ziggler.

After feuding with both Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger over the Intercontinental Championship, Kingston was eventually able to win the title back from Ziggler on an episode of SmackDown. After feuding with Ziggler and Del Rio, Kingston ended up losing the title to Wade Barrett.

After various pursuits and reigns involving other championships, Kingston defeated The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship on an episode of Main Event. After a somewhat lengthy feud with The Miz, Kingston defended his title against both Damien Sandow and Wade Barrett. However, Barrett eventually bested Kofi and won the title.

None of Kingston’s runs with the title were too exciting or lengthy, but Kofi’s consistent performances as a contender and champion helped stabilize a figurative “bar” that was set for the needed talent and ability to obtain the Intercontinental Championship.

Because of Kofi’s three reigns, athletic ability, and innate charisma, he finds himself at number 8 on this list.
