16. Zack Ryder

Speaking of WrestleMania moments, Zack Ryder had his at WrestleMania 32 when he did the unthinkable and grabbed and held the Intercontinental Championship atop a ladder and led the crowd to a couple of “Woo!” chants.

It was definitely a special moment, and fans believed that Ryder was finally getting the push he deserved and that he would do great things as the new Intercontinental Championship.

Then why is he so low on this list if his title win was such a success? Well, it is tough to do much with a championship when you only hold it for 24 hours. That’s right. On the next night, Ryder lost his newly won Intercontinental Championship to The Miz.

Ryder’s reigns may not have consisted of virtually anything, but at least his shocking win and shocking loss of title got everyone talking about the Intercontinental Championship once again.

Ryder will always be a fan favorite viewed as being misused by the WWE creative team until he gets that big breakout push, if he ever does. Maybe that will include a more lengthy and effective run with a midcard title.

Until then, he will just be the shortest reigning transitional champion on this list. At least his loss of the title led to one of the most successful Intercontinental Championship runs in recent history, and that alone is better than anything Big Show can show for his run as Intercontinental Champion.
