SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Naomi (c) vs. Lana

Result: Naomi defeats Lana via submission to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Well, it’s time to see what Lana can do in the ring. To go with it, she received her chance at the SmackDown Women’s Championship, two weeks ago, for Money in the Bank.

As the bell rang, Lana started dancing. She looked naive, and understandably so. Not a bad touch to the early part of the match.

Afterward, Lana just started dominating. A little strange, as she mostly overwhelmed Naomi for five minutes. Not what would be expected out of someone wrestling on her first PPV ever, but WWE may be confident enough in the Ravishing Russian’s ability to perform.

Interestingly enough, Carmella made her way down and teased a cash-in. Naomi then quickly tapped out Lana for the win, so it left the former NXT star with an opportunity to do it right there and then. Nothing happened, though, as she and Ellsworth walked away.

No surprise to Lana losing her title opportunity. It seemed done to establish her in the division, and she did have moments in the match. That’s not to say Rusev’s wife is an in-ring technician, but she can hold her own.

Carmella now lingers with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Give it a few months, and she’ll cash in.
