Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe

As of June 18, Samoa Joe is red-hot. He won the Extreme Rules main event to face Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire. It will be Joe’s first-ever Universal Championship match, and an opportunity for him to slide up the ranks in the WWE, permanently.

However, if Lesnar isn’t losing at the PPV, then Joe will have to move on. He wouldn’t be left off SummerSlam (unless WWE can’t find anything for him to do), right?

Finn Balor is directionless on WWE programming. While Joe, Rollins, Wyatt and Reigns have moved on (the latter will make a SummerSlam announcement on Raw), Balor hasn’t received anything. There’s time for him to do something at Great Balls of Fire, but it may have to develop quickly.

By SummerSlam, the Demon should make his way onto the card. If Joe is out of the Universal Championship picture, WWE should line these two up for a match.

Balor vs. Joe is an old take on a main event feud from NXT. These two battled for the NXT Championship from November 2015 to June 2016, before Joe won back-to-back matches and Balor’s call-up to the main roster. They had a few good matches, so might WWE go back to it on a grander scale?
