Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe

Result: Samoa Joe defeats Roman Reigns via submission

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

After his interview with Charly, Reigns’ music hit and the match was set to get under way.

Reigns arrived at the ring, a commercial hit and the Joe made his way to the ring.

Throughout the match there were a number of great spots. Whether it was Reigns reverse a Coquina Clutch and escaping from the ring to keep the move itself strong or Joe putting his foot on the rope after Reigns’ finisher to make it more believable rather than a strange kick-out after a finishing move.

The two men were outside the ring at some points, but it meant something and added brutality to the match-up.

Where the match and this segment really went over was at a point in which Reigns was resting in the corner and all of a sudden, in the background, we hear a faint…..

Beep, beep, beep…..

The beeps were an ambulance that had arrived and was shown on the big screen and from it emerged The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman.

The arrival of Strowman distracted Reigns and Joe landed the Coquina Clutch and won the match.

After the match was over, Reigns was lying in the ring clinging to life and then Braun Strowman came out to the ring, attacked Reigns and cut a great promo in which he challenged Reigns at Great Balls of Fire in an Ambulance Match.

Leading up to this match, it would have been nice to see a bit more backstage on these two guys, but the spots to make the Coquina Clutch look strong, Reigns sitting outside the ring conceding his territory to Joe for the time being, and Strowman’s return made this segment so entertaining to watch considering he came back in an ambulance—the device that put him out of commission and the gimmick for the two guys’ match at the next pay-per-view.

One could say that Strowman took away from Joe a bit, but overall, the segment was probably the best of the night.
