Earlier today it was reported that Roderick Strong and Bobby Roode were involved in an altercation backstage. What could that mean for the NXT Title picture on WWE NXT?

This week’s WWE NXT built up storylines and announced some huge upcoming matches. New faces made their (re)debut, and crestfallen No. 1 contenders made their return from injury. The scheduled main event was Aleister Black vs Kassius Ohno, two men who know each other all too well.

With so much to discuss, let’s get to it!

Peyton Royce (w/ Billie Kay) vs. Ember Moon

Result: Ember Moon defeats Peyton Royce via Eclipse

Rating: 3.0 out of 5 stars

A returning Ember Moon was set to face off against one-half of the Iconic Duo, Peyton Royce. For nearly 2 months Moon has been sidelined with a (legitimate) shoulder injury suffered at the hands of the reigning NXT Women’s Champion, Asuka. The injury she sustained was not only devastating physically, but forced the rising star to miss a title match at NXT Chicago.

Now looking to regain some momentum, Moon set her sights on Peyton Royce. The numbers game nearly allowed Royce the victory. Royce, with the help of Kay was able to work the injured shoulder of Ember Moon.  As Moon setup to execute the Eclipse, Billie Kay pulled her from the ring, preventing her partner from potential injury. (If you remember Moon injured Kay with the eclipse.)

However, Moon was able to eliminate Kay from the match when she landed a place on the Icon. Moon landed the eclipse for the 3 count.

Moon truly was on the rise when she first arrived, and she looked to be the one to eventually usurp Asuka for the title. Her injury and an ever-growing field of great female wrestlers, makes Moon’s future less certain.

Ohno and Itami Backstage

Backstage, Hideo Itami confronts Kassius Ohno. Hideo apologizes to his friend saying that he let his emotions get the best of him. He was frustrated with himself for not matching the success he had in Japan while in NXT.

Kassius said he also feels the pressure of achieving greatness at NXT, and he’ll take his next step against Aleister Black, tonight! Setting up the main event.
