The SmackDown Live Mid Card Division

Highlights of the Division

Baron Corbin winning the Money in the Bank was the right choice but his progression moving forward is critical. Holding on the briefcase isn’t bulletproof if he keeps suffering losses starting next week against Sami Zayn. The Lone Wolf must defeat Zayn and keep racking up wins to keep his momentum hot after winning the ladder match. Corbin must be protected at all times or he could suffer the Damien Sandow route of losing a lot of matches and eventually be the next superstar to not successfully cash in the contract. The man has all the talent in the world to be the next WWE Champion and he must prove that next week on Smackdown Live.

So the Backlash rematch is on between Kevin Owens and AJ Styles which is probably the only smart move to pull in this division. Both men never had a clear-cut ending to their feud and Owens’ count-out victory back in Backlash was a wash. The Phenomenal One made a clear case on Talking Smack on why he wants to win the US Championship—but he doesn’t need win the title. Styles is a main-event talent who’s only in this division because of his No. 1 Contender status. Once he concludes this rivalry with KO, he should be back in the WWE title picture.

Meanwhile, for the rest of the division.

The scene of Tye Dillinger being shown in a comedy skit with Sami Zayn is one of the outrageous crimes that WWE has committed this year. The Perfect Ten was primed to be the breakout star of the Superstar Shakeup but hasn’t broken out of the pretender’s purgatory ranking list. A feud with Dolph Ziggler could be the key to give him some TV time and Ziggler is excellent at bringing the best out of his opponents—on the mic and in the ring.

Let’s see the rankings for the division this week.
