4 Predictions for WWE SmackDown Live: June 27, 2017

We Don’t Get Hype, We Move On
A few months ago, Mojo Rawley appeared to be experiencing an upward trend in his career. He was being featured on a fairly regular presence on SmackDown Live. Despite his partner Zack Ryder’s untimely injury, Mojo continued to gain momentum. By the time WrestleMania 33 rolled around, he was able to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It seemed that Mojo was about to become a mainstay on the roster. Funny how things change.
Up until Zack Ryder returned last week, Mojo was in the midst of a career downturn. He failed to secure a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match, and he suffered a loss to Jinder Mahal in the process. However, now he’s in a prime position to climb his way back up the mountain. All he has to do is defeat the Usos along with Ryder. If they are able to do so, a future title shot is theirs for the taking.
Unfortunately for the duo, the time for them to ascend the tag team division isn’t now. In fact, it probably won’t happen at all. SmackDown Live is dominated with good guy tag teams, with American Alpha, Breezango, and the New Day all having established themselves. The two-hour format simply cannot support any more teams at the moment. Live events could make use of them, and yet they need to make appearances on television to become draws for the company.
With little to no time to promote them, WWE will probably decide to have the duo part ways. Given his recent track record, Mojo should be the one to pull the trigger in such a situation. When that happens, the former friends will engage in a new feud.
