Baron Corbin vs Sami Zayn

Result: Baron Corbin wins via pinfall

Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars

After the previous segment, AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, and Kevin Owens all participated in a backstage skit. For next week’s show, it was announced that a Fourth of July battle royal will take place. The winner will earn a future title shot against Owens, a decision which the Prizefighter didn’t appreciate in the slightest.

Also, Mike and Maria Kanellis appeared for a brief segment which centered around “the power of love”. It never got into gear though, as an apologetic Sami Zayn had to make his entrance for the next match. Baron Corbin was out shortly thereafter, and the two rivals wasted little time in getting the match underway.

Striking early, Zayn tried to take control with a beautiful hurricanrana. Taking things into the corner, he nailed a flurry of mounted punches which caused the Lone Wolf to recover on the outside. Zayn went for an outside dive, but Corbin caught him and sent him crashing into the apron. From here, the powerhouse grounded the Underdog from the Underground and proceeded to slow the pace of the match.

Working the ribs and back of Zayn, Corbin aimed to avoid any sort of retaliation by his opponent. Despite the punishment though, Zayn gained momentum and dropped the Lone Wolf with a doing crossbody. He seemed to be on the path to victory, but Corbin stopped him dead with an End of Days. The move would end Zayn’s night and elevate his opponent in the process.

Backstage, Shinsuke Nakamura was interviewed about possibly facing Corbin. I guess these two are set to do battle in the coming weeks.
