WWE SummerSlam is that much closer, so how does the projected match card look after Great Balls of Fire?

WWE SummerSlam is just six weeks away, with only Battleground left to go through. Great Balls of Fire was the latest pay-per-view to pass, however, which was exclusive to Raw.

In the main event of the show, Brock Lesnar defeated Samoa Joe to retain the WWE Universal Championship. That likely makes Lesnar the champion for SummerSlam, but who will be next to face him?

Top stars like Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman will also need something to do. Who will they face?

In our second-to-last SummerSlam card projection, let’s outline how things could look in August.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
The New Day (c) vs. The Usos

At WWE Battleground, The New Day will face The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. It’s the second consecutive pay-per-view they’ll face off at.

New Day came close to securing the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at Money in the Bank, but failed when Jimmy and Jey left the ring, resulting in a countout. That only set the stage for a rematch, which should potentially see things locked down for the Unicorn Trio at Battleground.

In this rematch, we’ll assume New Day win the titles, setting up their third reign as a team. A third match could take place at SummerSlam unless WWE decides to place these teams in a bout on SmackDown Live.

If The Usos vs. New Day takes place at SummerSlam, then it would fill in somewhere between one of the biggest singles matches. If not there, then on the pre-show, as the SummerSlam card will be full of big names going head-to-head from Raw and SmackDown Live.

After The Usos, The New Day would move into the fall as champions. Who should be next?
